Danny Fisher started his career in the Fire Service in April 2008 when he joined the Buras Volunteer Fire Department after moving back to his hometown following Hurricane Katrina. His passion for the Volunteer Fire Service grew, leading him to start his professional career with the formation of the Plaquemines Parish Fire Department (PPFD) in April 2010.

In joining the PPFD, Danny was one of the initial firefighter/operators who were paid on duty and stationed throughout the parish, working 24/48 shifts to provide Fire/Rescue/EMS services. He was stationed in his hometown of Buras, Louisiana.

Experience

In 2013, Danny was promoted to Lieutenant and stationed in Belle Chasse, Louisiana. There, he served the community and supervised up to six fire stations and on-duty personnel manning each station. Danny was also involved in the training and development of new and veteran volunteer firefighters, assisting in weekly trainings, and helping volunteers pursue IFSAC certifications. One of Danny’s proudest achievements was helping service members from the New Orleans Navy Base begin an apprenticeship program, allowing them to transition from active-duty roles in the military to working full-time in the fire service4.

In July 2023, Danny resigned from the PPFD to begin a new career as a Battalion Chief with Industrial Rescue in a growing new division, the Industrial Rescue Fire Department (IRFD). Since then, Danny has been involved in training, working on standards and procedures, recruiting, and setting high expectations for performance and safety5.

In November 2024, Danny was promoted to Deputy Chief in the IRFD over the Plaquemines Parish site. He is now working on growing a culture of first responders that will become the future of the IRFD.
